23rd May 2012

Left home in brilliant sunshine arrived at Keele in fog - can't say the UK weather is dull! Another mild night but only two moths in the trap. One was a Peppered Moth the other the rarer Shears Hadena plebeja - very few records of it at Keele.

The Shears
Lunchtime was very warm; here are a few of the things I saw:

Fish, probably Rudd or Roach, basking in lake 3

Herb Robert

Nuthatch nest in the Clock House wall - note mud around the hole to make hole smaller

Speckled Wood

Wood Speedwell

Yellow Pimpernel
