Despite very mild temperatures, strong SSE winds overnight probably deterred moths from flying and there was only a Merveille-du-Jour and a Brick in the trap with a November Moth on the VC's garage wall! There was a flock of around 200 Lesser Black-backed Gulls on the field between the Hall and the motorway - they may have roosted there overnight. A flock of 10 Goldfinches flew over.

I learnt this morning that a row of 12 ornamental cherries were all snapped off in a deliberate act of vandalism. This is supposed to be a seat of learning - what on earth makes people do such a thing. It is very sad and depressing!
