First post for a while. Things tend to be quiet at this time of year; especially with the cold weather. Thoughts are turning to the cherry season. We have two winter-flowering species showing well. Have taken delivery of some new engraved labels for the National Collection and hope to get them in place for the main flowering period. Deciding how to fix them has been a bit of a problem. Surprisingly (or not these days) we get quite a few labels deliberately removed or destroyed. We also get damage from squirrels. Then, if they are fixed directly to the trunk they can be forced off as the tree grows. So, I've come up with the idea of using picture-frame wire which is crimped so that it can't easily be removed. Time will tell!
