Well, it's really autumnal now! Numbers of moths in the trap have plummeted - had 18 this morning with half of them being the Lunar Underwing. What a variable species this is ranging from the pale one below to deep brown and all shades between. Large Yellow and Lesser Yellow Underwings are hanging on and Red-green Carpets are starting to appear. Chiffchaffs can still be heard in muted song and there are a few House Martins and Swallows flying over.
