The Streak |
Dedicated to the study and enjoyment of the flora and fauna of Keele University's extensive campus.
14th October 2011
Quite mild last night and calm. The moth trap actually had a few moths!. They included 2 Barred Sallows, Grey Pine Carpet, a Large Wainscot and 2 Streaks. The latter is not that common; the larvae feed on Broom.
As I was walking by Keele Hall I heard a familiar call note. There were 6 Crossbills feeding in the Norway Spruce behind the Hall. They flew off and 10 Siskins left with them. Later a Redpoll and a few Redwings flew over too. All in all a good start to the day!
