9th September 2011

A mild night produced a few more moths. Amongst them was the first Frosted Orange of the year; a very handsome moth.

We don't just catch moths in the trap; there were over 50 small, black dung beetles Aphodius too! One feature of early morning at this time of year is the autumn song of the Robin. I must have heard 7/8 different ones on the short walk to the trap. Most of the Swallows and House Martins have now gone; just a few stragglers left.
